"There's no weight loss clinic anywhere near me."
An online weight loss clinic for all of Ontario.
Ontario Virtual Weight Loss is an online weight loss clinic and weight management clinic for adults anywhere in Ontario. You meet a Nurse Practitioner by video from home, give blood at a lab collection centre near you, and get a plan in writing. No waiting room, and no drive to one.

The real answer
The clinic comes to you. The lab is the only trip.
A weight loss clinic here isn't a building. It's a Nurse Practitioner, a care team and a plan, reached by video from wherever you are in Ontario. The only in-person step is blood work at a collection centre close to home.
- Your history, online, in your own timeyou
- A video visit from homeyour NP
- Blood work at a collection centre near youlocal lab
- A plan in writingyour NP, with you
- Check-ins that keep goingcare team
Everything a weight management clinic does, without the commute.
You answer an online assessment about your health, the medications you take and what you've already tried. Your Nurse Practitioner goes through it with you by video and asks what a form can't. Lab work shows what's going on underneath. Then you get a written plan built around your actual week, with prescription treatment only if it's appropriate and you want it. How it works, step by step.
A Nurse Practitioner leads your care, and you can check their registration.
In Ontario, the College of Nurses of Ontario says Nurse Practitioners are "authorized to diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests and prescribe medications." You can look them up on the public register before you book anything. Meet your clinician.
No referral needed.
You can get started yourself. That matters in a province where, according to the Ontario Medical Association, more than 2.5 million Ontarians don't have a family doctor. Whether you have a family doctor or not, the first step is the same.
What "online" means here, and what it doesn't.
- No office to visit. There's no address to find and no waiting room. Visits happen by video.
- Labs are in person. Blood work is done at a community lab collection centre near you, with a requisition from your NP.
- Referrals, if needed, are arranged. If something needs another specialist, your Nurse Practitioner arranges a referral.
- You need to be in Ontario at the time of each visit. The College of Nurses of Ontario considers care to take place "where the client is physically located." So if you're away, we move the visit to when you're back.
Who it's for.
Adults 18 and over who are in Ontario at the time of their visits. Prescription treatment is generally considered for adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related health condition. Your clinician makes the final decision. It isn't offered to anyone pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy. Is this for me?
The same clinic, wherever you are in Ontario.
Care works the same way in every part of the province. These pages cover what's particular about a few cities:
Not on the list? You're still covered, anywhere in Ontario.
Questions, answered plainly.
Is there a weight loss clinic near me?
The clinic is online, so it's wherever you are in Ontario. Visits are by video from home, and the only in-person step is blood work at a lab collection centre near you.
What's the difference between a weight loss clinic and a weight management clinic?
Mostly the name. Here, both mean the same thing: a medical assessment, lab work, a written plan and ongoing check-ins, led by a Nurse Practitioner.
Can an online clinic really prescribe?
Yes, if it's appropriate for you. Ontario Nurse Practitioners can diagnose, order tests and prescribe, and prescription treatment is offered only after an assessment and only if your clinician decides it's safe and right for you.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can get started yourself.
What if I need care the program doesn't cover?
Your Nurse Practitioner arranges a referral when something needs another specialist.
Can I do a visit while I'm travelling?
Only while you're in Ontario. Care is considered to take place where you are, so a visit from outside the province gets moved to when you're back.
